Is it any wonder he ended up stranded in some middle-of-nowhere electrical room and spawned an entire series spinoff game wherein citizens of the world have to drop everything to rescue him
Soulmate AU where you get your soulmate’s initials and Jim’s are (I’m sure you know where this is going) M-something-H (Gasp) and he decides that he’ll wine-and-dine Mycroft and Molly simultaneously, find out their middle names, and dump whoever he needs to. But Molly is dreadfully embarrassed by her’s and Mycroft’s is a state secret so it takes longer than anticipated and before long Jim is attached to both of them.
Ooooh, but also what if before she got her soulmate’s initials, Molly suffered an injury that left a bunch of scarring on her arm, and the only letter that ever appeared was an ‘M’. And then what if also, Uncle Rudy has the boffins at Baskerville find a way to laser off Mycroft’s initials when he’s still a wee thing because Uncle Rudy is an asshole decides that Mycroft is going to be too important to Crown and Country to let him get distracted by a soulmate. And now it’s some thirty years later and Mycroft only has the vaguest memory of a ‘J’, which just happens to also be Molly’s middle initial, which of course Mycroft knows because he has a file on her.
And then they end up in this big fat mess where they know for certain that two of them are each other’s soulmates, but not which two. Only everyone is really awfully fond of everyone else in this, The Most Awkward Love Triangle Of All Time. Cue all the a n g s t and tear and teeth gnashing and each of them privately vowing to let the other two go for the sake of their happiness even though none of them can really quite bring themselves to go through with it.
So finally one day Jim snaps and throws a huge fit about how soulmates are STUPID and Molly and Mycroft are NAUSEATING and he HATES them and he’s fucking off to Burma thank-you-very-much where he can finally have some PEACE and QUIET to plan all the gruesome murders he wants. But before he can storm out, Mycroft trips Jim with his brolly and Molly handcuffs him to the bedpost, because not only is Jim adorably and utterly terrible at making any of that sound convincing, they are quite concerned that he’s suffered some brain damage, since this sort of noble self-sacrifice is really, really not like Jim.
And so Molly’s fussing over Jim while Mycroft is consoling Molly and promising her that no, Jim is not going to die of an aneurysm, he’s going to get the best medical care available. And Jim’s whining about why won’t they just let him be evil so they can be happy, it’s the only thing he’s good at…
And then the Fates turn up out of nowhere, besides themselves, and are just, “You are a thREESOME. OKAY? A soulmate threesome. HOW is this not obvious!? Will the three of you JUST FUCK ALREADY OH MY GAWD.”
Every time I reblog gifs from this scene I have to point out that Mycroft was, in fact, correct; as with the other time he told Sherlock to stay out of a situation, Sherlock made it drastically worse.
(People don’t always seem to realize how badly Magnusson beat Sherlock. Admittedly, the plot of the episode was stacked against him in a lazy, cheating way. But when you set out to stop someone and only hand him blackmail material to use against your entire family, leaving the only way out you can imagine to blow his brains out in front of half the intelligence service, you lost, son.)
jimcroft established relationship + modern au where Sherlock is still a fine consulting detective solving crime with his Watson but his brother and his husband, as far as Sherlock knows, are just these gay math nerds cuz mycroft does accounting for the government and jim works in a university and they keep inviting him over for dumb things like birthdays and christmases where they cook,
until Watson finally convinces him to go to one of these things and Sherlock can’t help but pick up on little weird things here and there like why the hell does his brother know how much Plutonium costs and how does jim know so much about Sherlock’s cases
