can we just appreciate becky albertalli here for a moment who saw people shipping two “straight” female characters from her first book and proceeded to give the gays everything they want by writing a whole book about them as a couple
like other writers take note. this is the way to please fans rather than just teasing the representation they want
hmmm ok so Mycroft and Jim met several years pre-series and had a fling that was exciting but mutually understood to be a one time thing, then a few years later they meet again and it feels so right that neither of them wants to give it up, but by now theyre in so deep with their roles that it’s too impossible for them to even meet and risk it.
Then mid series, Mycroft is having a really terrible day after meeting with Sherlock to fake Sherlock’s death because he knows committing to this means giving up Jim and he’s kind of drunk and let’s this slip in front of Anthea who calls him out on always putting Sherlock in front of everything and Mycroft ends up confessing his love for Jim to Anthea.
LITTLE DO THEY KNOW, Anthea and Jim have both started this juice thing and end up in the same store one morning where Anthea is telling a yoga friend about her boss’s love life and Jim overhears and knows exactly what she’s talking about even though she doesn’t use specifics and Jim just drops everything to go see Mycroft while Sherlock is waiting on the roof wondering what the hell is going on and the snipers are confused they haven’t gotten confirmation on which of the dozen or so plans Moriarty wants to go with and Mycroft is confused that he has visitors but opens the door only to get tackle-kissed and then snogged against the wall

I swear “They Both Die at the End” has the strongest Mystrade-undertones.
I keep seeing cat posts and I keep having to keep myself from reblobbing and tagging them all as jimcroft because *tableflip* that’s so them sometimes?? Mycroft never wanted a cat and is not even a cat person but Jim has designated him His and will not stop knocking over his things. Mycroft is just like omfg i love you but can you n o t and Jim is like lol impossible. And then knocks all his files to the ground out of order as a backdrop to the lovely dead animal offerings he is bringing this sad human and then takes over Mycroft’s favorite pillow. Mycroft is Not Happy but all that does is make Jim curl up in his lap and purr loudly
Jim turns up at Mycroft’s secret basement office one day, saunters in swinging a dead hare (that he has poached off some Duke’s property because there is class and there is pettiness and guess which one always wins).
No one stops him because the security guys are too busy throwing each other weird looks like “wtf is that that moriarty guy? does he belong here now? wat is happen?” and Anthea is not about to get hare guts in her hair, again, plus she figures it’s about time Mycroft had a refresher on his self-defense anyway and what better way than some on-the-job practice.
So Jim marches unimpeded straight into Mycroft’s office, slams the hare on the desk right into the middle of some super secret documents, stares him dead in the eye, and says, “I have brought you this because you are obviously too dumb to feed yourself properly.”
And Mycroft is staring down at the utter ruin and carnage that Jim has made of his work space and is like, “…Is this about my diet again?”
“No more diet. We’re having fricassee for dinner. If it is more than six seconds late I will come and scream at you until we eat. Don’t be la~te.”
